With broad tapering double-edged blade (some pitting) cut with converging fullers over almost its entire length over each side, the forte on one side deeply struck with two gold-lined bladesmith's marks (gold mostly missing from one), the waisted hilt and wood-lined scabbard covered in gilt and nielloed silver embossed and chased with symmetrical designs of scrolling foliage against finely punched grounds, the former with dark horn grip-scales secured by three transverse pins each with domed gilt and nielloed silver head, the latter with heart-shaped piercings and three applied silver mounts originally enamelled, the inside of the locket nielloed with a stylised foliated lion above a symmetrical design of foliage, suspension mount en suite, and fluted bud-shaped terminal
