With blued octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle and signed in full along the top flat, fluted numbered cylinder engraved with a foliate band around the forward edge and numbered from '1' to '6', foliate scroll engraved action and nipple-shield, off-set dolphin hammer with chequered spur, blued trigger-guard engraved with foliage on the bow, case-hardened ovoidal butt-cap with hinged circular butt-trap cover engraved with foliage, finely chequered figured rounded butt, vacant silver escutcheon, and some original finish: in a later leather holster, London proof marks (2)

  • William Andrew Beckwith was apprenticed to Wattell Clark in 1755. He was elected Master of the Gunmakers' Company in 1808, 1814, 1825 and again in 1840, the year before his death. His widow Elizabeth carried on the business until 1868
