The First 18th Century, Possibly Italian, The Remainder 19th Century
The first with two-stage barrel and octagonal breech, plain tang, flat bevelled lock engraved with foliage (action defective, top jaw and screw replaced), lightly carved figured full stock, full plain brass mounts, dark horn fore-end cap, and later ramrod; the second with etched damascus twist octagonal sighted barrel, plain tang and flat bevelled lock, wooden half-stock (butt replaced), iron mounts, and iron ramrod, Liège proof; the third with long barrel chiselled with foliage at the breech, flat bevelled lock chiselled with foliage, figured full stock, brass mounts (side-plate and trigger-guard replaced) including spurred pommel cast and chased with foliage, and wooden ramrod; the last of similar form, with lightly engraved rounded lock, partly chequered full stock (repaired around the lock), cast and chased brass mounts, and false wooden ramrod (worn overall) (4)
