A Cased Pair Of Liège 32-Bore Percussion Target Pistols
Retailed By Lepage Feres A Paris, No. 1631, Circa 1860
With blackened octagonal sighted barrels each rifled with eight grooves and inscribed 'Acier' in gold along the top flat, blued fore-sights, foliate engraved breeches and tangs, the former numbered '1' and '2' respectively, the latter each incorporating a blued adjustable back-sight and engraved with the retailer's trade mark (Neue Støckel 7780), foliate engraved detented locks, hammers and mounts, the last comprising shaped pommels each drawn-out to a diamond shape with baluster terminal, spur trigger-guards, and trigger-plates each with foliate engraved finial, varnished figured half-stocks carved with foliage in relief against a finely punched ground on each fore-end and along each side of the fluted butt (one repaired), and in fine condition retaining nearly all their original blacked, blued and dull grey finish: in original fitted ebony veneered case lined in burgundy velvet with full accessories, the interior of the lid with stamped gilt retailer's details, the exterior (split) with ovoidal vacant brass escutcheon, Liège proof
