With two-stage russet barrel signed along the sighting flat on the forward section and decorated with a scallop shell at the muzzle in front of the bayonet lug, and with designs of symmetrical foliage around the silver fore-sight, at the mid-section and at the breech, the last also with a sporting trophy suspended from a scallop shell, turned and gilt girdle, a band of gilt flutes behind, the decoration throughout retaining traces of original gilding, tang en suite, flat bevelled lock signed on a rococo cartouche in relief against a finely punched gold ground, the tail chiselled with foliage against a punched gold ground, the cock, pan and steel en suite, the first reinforced with two pierced and chased dolphins, figured full stock carved in low relief with rocailles and foliage behind the rear ramrod-pipe, in front of and behind the trigger-guard and around the barrel tang, and profusely inlaid overall with silver wire (minor repairs) scrollwork inhabited by a silver wire butterfly on each side of the butt, the mounts cast and chased in low relief with flowering foliage and rocailles against finely punched grounds, and comprising shaped side-plate, butt-plate with shaped sides, trigger-guard (tang replaced, retaining screw missing) and ramrod-pipes, crowned escutcheon between lion supporters and engraved with indistinct owner's arms, iron sling loop, and original silvered iron ramrod (fore-end mount missing, some wear overall)
