With browned octagonal sighted barrel signed in gothic script along the top flat at the breech, rifled with six grooves, and stamped 'Albert Bernard Canonnier' beneath forward of the breech, reblued sights including folding leaf back-sight to 200 metres, foliate engraved case-hardened breech deeply struck with Bernard's oval barrelsmith's mark beneath, long slender tang engraved with scrolling foliage, border engraved flat detented lock signed in gothic script and decorated with a fox and chicken in a landscape, and with scrolling foliage on the tail and on the hammer, highly figured half-stock with chequered grip, foliate engraved steel mounts (minor rust patination) comprising butt-plate with a stag on the heel, trigger-guard with a lion in a landscape on the bow, foliate engraved trigger-plate and ramrod-pipes, set trigger, and original brass-mounted ramrod: in original rosewood-veneered fitted case lined in burgundy velvet with full accessories including brass-mounted powder-flask, the body embossed on each side with panels of hanging foliage, the exterior with borders of brass stringing, the lid with shaped vacant brass escutcheon
