A 16-Bore 1856 Pattern Percussion Cavalry Carbine, And A .577/450 Martini Henry Mark III Service Rifle
The First Dated 1857, The Second No. 7262, Dated 1884
The first with sighted barrel rifled with three grooves and retained by two barrel bands, leaf-sighted to 300 yards, plain tang, border engraved dated flat lock with 'Tower' and crowned 'VR' on the tail, figured full stock (worn and bruised), regulation brass mounts, sling loops (one replaced), steel saddle-bar and ring, and stirrup ramrod (tip replaced, steel parts worn and rust patinated); the second with sighted rifled barrel retained by two barrel bands, the forward one with bayonet lug on the right, calibrated folding adjustable back-sight, dated action stamped with initials and mark of the London Small Arms Company on one side, figured butt and fore-stock, the former with company mark on one side, regulation steel mounts, sling loops, and original steel ramrod (worn and rust patinated overall), London proof marks (2)
