Late 17th/Early 18th Century
With curved finely watered single-edged blade with gold-inlaid number corresponding to 576, the forte on one side with two gold-inlaid cartouches (some wear) inscribed respectively in na'staliq script 'Sultan Hassan' and 'Work of Ali Isfahani', characteristic iron hilt finely inlaid overall with scrolling lotus blossoms within patterned silver borders, and comprising pointed foliate langets, waisted button quillons, curved tapering knuckle-guard with bud-shaped finial, disc-shaped pommel with bud-shaped finial on a pierced foliate dome, the finial carrying a pierced swivel for a tassel, and swelling grip of flattened diamond section, in original wooden scabbard covered in burgundy velvet (plush mostly worn off) with original chape en suite with the hilt
