A Spanish Composite Cup-Hilt Rapier

With sharply tapering double-edged blade of unusual off-set diamond section, slightly hollowed rectangular ricasso, iron hilt comprising a cup formed of slender bars of circular section framing two large concave shells between three ovoidal loops on both sides, the shells bent towards the hand and engraved with foliage on the outside, all made in one with downbent arms, straight quillons with small button terminals, and knuckle-guard fitting into the later spirally fluted ovoidal pommel, and later grip bound with twisted iron wire
