An Indian Khanjarli
17th/18th Century
With recurved sharply-pointed double-edged blade with medial ridge between flutes over most of its length on each side towards the point of diamond section, iron hilt comprising basal mount intended to fit over the throat of the scabbard, flat rear quillon, tapering knuckle-guard with stylised monster-head terminal, and characteristically shaped grip-scales and beaked pommel-scales (old splits) secured by transverse iron pins with silver rosette-shaped washers on each side (one missing, some wear and rust patination)
