With broad slightly recurved blade double-edged at the point and stamped on one side with maker's name and address beneath 'VR', a crown between, the forte with characteristic rounded mount on both sides engraved with scrolling foliage, engraved beaked steel hilt with hooked quillon and indented for the fingers, and rounded dark horn grip-scales decorated with silver pins and with a brass-lined hole through the pommel for a thong
