A French Cavalry Officer's Sabre
Early 19th Century
With curved fullered blade (some light pitting overall) double-edged towards the point and etched over each side of the forte with a cavalryman on horseback between a trophy of arms and foliage on one side, and between a turban and foliage on the other, brass hilt with slender oval langets, downscrolled rear quillon, knuckle-guard with slightly swelling faceted central feature between roundels, faceted waisted pommel with fluted domed top, and fluted wooden grip chequered on each side, in original brass scabbard (dented) with iron shoe, and suspension mounts each carrying a ring for suspension (some wear overall)
