Footnotes

  • Provenance:
Christie's London, Modern Sporting Guns and Vintage Firearms, 7 November 1990, lot 31

The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1912. The No. 2 gun was rebarrelled in 1926 with 29in. barrels. According to the Christie's catalogue, the makers were able to confirm that the No. 2 barrels were shortened to match the No. 1 gun when the latter was rebarrelled by them in 1963, at which time they were also restocked
