Footnotes

  • The serial number would suggest that this revolver was completed in 1908

Formerly the property of Captain Howard Brokensha
Gazetted in 27 November 1915 as a Second Lieutenant of the Kent (Fortress) Engineers, Royal Engineers, he was raised to Lieutenant in 1917, at which time he was noted as serving with 3 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, and qualified on Aeroplanes and Seaplanes. He appears to have been flying as a spotter for artillery during the Battle of Cambrai in that year. At the formation of the Royal Air Force in April 1918 he was recorded as a temporary Captain. He was interviewed about his experiences, some of which were transcribed in 'Voices in Flight: Conversations with Air Veterans of the Great War'. He is also quoted in 'Cambrai 1917 - The Myth of the First Great Tank Battle'
