With rebrowned twist sighted barrels (surface rust) signed in full in gothic script along the rib, tang engraved with a gundog's head and foliage, signed border engraved locks decorated with foliage, dolphin hammers en suite with the tang, figured half-stock with chequered grip and cheek-piece, reblued border engraved iron mounts (blueing worn) comprising butt-plate decorated with foliage on the heel tang, trigger-guard numbered '74' and with foliage inhabited by two gamebrds on the bow, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and original brass-mounted ramrod, London proof marks: in later lined and fitted two-tier oak case for a pair of d.b. percussion sporting guns containing a set of 13-bore d.b. percussion browned twist sighted barrels with brass-mounted ramrod, by J. Beattie, 205 Regent Street, London, circa 1850, the interior of the lid with trade label of W. Child for circa 1826-50, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle engraved with owner's name 'John Oddie Esqre.' and centred on a circular escutcheon engraved with a crest, London proof marks
