A Rare French Jarre Patent Second Model 7MM Self-Cocking Pin-Fire Six-Shot 'Harmonica' Pistol
No. 360, Circa 1873
With horizontally arranged serial numbered barrel-block of six polygroove rifled barrels operating from left to right on firing and stamped on the upper right side 'A. Jarre Bte. S.G.D.C.', hinged breech-mount securing the cartridges and operated by a chequered spring-catch on the left, one-piece action and butt, the former stamped 'A Jarre Bte. S.G.D.C.' on the right, the latter housing a threaded cartridge-extracting rod behind the hammer, exposed trigger, rounded ebony grips (one with minor split), and faint traces of original blueing

    The first 'harmonica' pistol was patented in 1862 by J. Jarre of 28 Boulevard Poissonière in America under United States Patent No. 35,685. His successors P.J. and A.E. Jarre are recorded at the same address and patented the second design, of which this is an example, under United States Patent No. 137,927 of 1873.
