A Rare American Colonial Map Cowhorn Powder-Horn Relating To The French And Indian Wars
Dated 1760
Incised with scrimshaw work retaining traces of red and black pigment and depicting the forts and settlements along the Hudson (north) and Mohawk rivers up to Niagara, Lake Ontario and Lake Chapla, the latter with a view of a ship, a rectangular panel at the base (slightly reduced, plug missing) inscribed 'Map Of The County Of Albany - Done By A Scale Eight Mile To A Inch - 1760', and tapering nozzle (minor damage on one side at the top) with swelling central section above a slender turn
