Both Late 18th Century
The first with curved fullered blade (pitted) double-edged at the point and retaining etched decoration on both sides of the forte including trophies of arms and a profile bust of a Turk, iron half-basket guard (pitted) with side-ring and joined to the knuckle-guard by two scrolled side-bars, lobed rear quillon, faceted pommel and back-piece, the former with flat beaked cap, and ribbed figured wooden grip (chipped) bound with twisted copper wire; the second with curved fullered blade (worn) etched on both sides of the forte with foliate scrollwork and trophies framing the crowned royal arms on one side, and crowned 'GR' cypher on the other, the back of the blade etched 'J.J. Runkel Solingen', brass stirrup hilt (originally gilt), and chequered rounded ivory grip (split) (2)
