Late 15th/16th Century
With axe-head with crescentic cutting-edge drawn-up to a sharp point above and below, rectangular socket with pairs of vertical flutes on each side and extended to form a beak-shaped fluke of diamond section, surmounted by a spike of diamond section above a roped moulding, and with integral side-straps extending down each side of the haft and secured by six transverse rivets, the wooden haft of flattened circular section (some splits and repairs) with turned grip between a turned moulding and rounded pommel (some pitting)
