An Afghan Khyber Knife (Chara)

With characteristic sharply-pointed finely watered blade with brightly polished single edge and cut with a medial ridge along most of its length along the back, an iron mount on each side a the forte incised with two lines of stars, and beaked iron hilt with rounded bone grip-scales each incised with a decorative band filled with red pigment, in original wooden scabbard covered in brass decorated overall with bands of incised and punched decoration, the top mount of the locket (incomplete) set with a row of small cabochon turquoise beads (some missing), the curved terminal with faceted bud-shaped finial
