A Stand Of Chinese Polearms
Late 19th/Early 20th Century
The first with crescentic blade mounted above a pair of brass mounts shaped and engraved as bats on each side, octagonal haft with decorative mouldings, pierced with a cross in a circle at the top and forming a tapering socket of circular section below, on wooden staff of circular section, the remainder of similar form, the heads comprising a trident with pointed upcurved blades and central spike of flattened diamond section; a large knife-shaped blade double-edged at the point; another, clipped-back at the point; a spear-shaped head; and a spike of triangular section with three hooks beneath: all on a wooden stand painted black with gilt line borders (7)
