With rebrowned twist barrels (some light pitting) signed in full along the rib, silver fore-sight, breeches each with gold line and gold-lined touch-hole, foliate engraved tang decorated with a starburst in the sighting groove, signed case-hardened locks each with moulded border, struck with locksmith's mark 'TA' on the inside and with stepped tail, rainproof pan, roller on a blued steel-spring, and most of their original blued and burnished finish on the internal working parts (cocks not a pair), figured half-stock (some bruising) with chequered grip, iron mounts comprising butt-plate engraved with two birds in a landscape on the heel tang, and trigger-guard with large pineapple finial and engraved with a bird amid foliage on the bow, vacant silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-mounted ramrod, private Birmingham proof marks
