    The present work is after a painting by Cornelis van Poelenburgh in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen. Sir James Palmer was Chancellor of the Order of the Garter to Charles I and an amateur limner. He painted miniature copies after pictures in the Royal Collection, such as the present work.
