    The present painting is loosely based on a composition from the studio of Pieter Coecke van Aelst. It comes closest to a work by the Master of Sint-Anna Hofje (see: G. Marlier, Pierre Coeck d'Alost (Brussels, 1966), p. 153, fig. 84).
