Footnotes

  • LITERATURE:
Anthony Bertram, Paul Nash, Portrait of an Artist, Faber and Faber, London, 1955, p.114-5

Nash spent the winter of 1924/5 at Cros de Cagnes, near Nice, from where he toured to Genoa, Florence, Pisa and Siena before returning home in March 1925. The drawing bears a similarity to Nash's painting of the following year entitled Through a Window, Riviera (1926) in its unusual, elongated portrait format.
