• The subject of this medallion is taken from The Miracles of St Nicholas. The exact location has not been traced, as there are a great many of the cycles are depicted in French cathedrals. This episode shows a dishonest Christian who tried to cheat a Jewish moneylender. The Christian played a trick on the moneylender by concealing coins (that he had borrowed) in his staff, he then offered the moneylender his staff as repayment of his debt. Not knowing that the coins were hidden in the staff, the moneylender refused to take it in payment.
  However, the Dishonest Christian (as he is known in the Legend) was subsequently run over by a carter, which is the scene depicted in this stained glass design.
