1977 MZ ETS250/1 ISDT Replica
Registration no. PCE 591R
Frame no. 53267
Engine no. 63940
Built by apprentices in a special section of the factory at Zschopau in what was then East Germany, this ISDT Replica was supplied by Andy Lee of Cambridge and first registered on 25th April 1977. In standard form the engine is very powerful (producing 32bhp) but rather peaky and noisy so the vendor has modified it using a cylinder barrel from a standard TS250, with a boost port conversion and Asso piston supplied by 'Spares 'n Repairs', then at Watford. We are advised that the performance is little different from the original and, with some modifications to the exhaust system, the engine is far more tractable and quieter. (The original barrel and piston have been retained). Other noteworthy features include a five-speed, close-ratio gearbox and a twin-plug cylinder head with a selector switch under the seat on the near side. This was incorporated to save time during a trial in the event of a plug fouling. Last taxed for the road to 30.04.89, 'PCE 591R' comes with the original tool kit, spare cables, alternative gearbox sprockets, original literature and Swansea V5/V5C documents. The machine will require re-commissioning and the customary safety checks before returning to the road.
