1980 Yamaha XS250

Testing the XS250 for its June 1980 edition, Bike magazine found the Yamaha 'a good town bike with an easy-to-live-with throttle response' and discovered that it was the fastest of the four Japanese quarter-litre four-stroke twins on test, with a top speed of 88mph. Bike didn't like the tall, overdrive-like 6th gear but at least it made for acceptable economy, 55mpg being achieved overall, though this would surely be bettered by a private owner paying for his/her own fuel!
This XS250 was purchased new by the vendor's father and was last taxed for the road in 1997. We are advised that the engine has been turned over from time to time and has good compression. Offered in need of re-commissioning and sold strictly as viewed, the machine comes with old-style Swansea V5 document. A total of 30,081 miles is displayed on the odometer. No reserve.
