Ducati's first stab at a touring model to complement its modern sports bikes was the ST2 of 1997, which deployed the 900SS's air-cooled 4-valve motor in the Bologna firm's trademark trellis frame. A more upmarket model using a modified version of the 916 superbike's water-cooled 8-valve engine - the ST4 - followed in 1999. Although stylistically similar to its predecessor, the ST4 was considerably more powerful, scorching to a top speed of fractionally over 160mph when tested by MCN. This ST4 remained with its original purchaser up to June 2009 and was acquired by the current (third) owner in January 2011. Regular servicing is vitally important for all modern motorcycles but especially Ducatis, and we are advised that this one's cam belts were changed in September 2009 at 6,431 miles (approximately 4,000 miles ago). New tyres have recently been fitted and this machine is equipped with a Spyball immobiliser/alarm system. Described as in generally very good condition, the machine is offered with sundry invoices, MoT valid to 6th October 2012 and Swansea V5C. It is currently registered on a SORN.
