1960 Velocette 349cc KSS Special
Registration no. 495 XUT
Frame no. RS16061
Engine no. KSS 8632
Slotting Velocette's wonderful overhead-camshaft engine into later cycle parts has long been an accepted practice among aficionados of the Hall Green factory's products, and this example combines a 1938 KSS MkII engine and the swinging-arm frame common to the entire singles range from 1956 onwards, this example dating from 1960. Restored over a period of five years with considerable effort expended, the machine was completed in 2010 and is described by the private vendor as in 'A1' condition. Noteworthy features include an Amal TT carburettor, clip-on handlebars, rear-set footrests, swept-back exhaust pipe, megaphone silencer and a competition primary chain guard. New parts fitted include the speedometer and rev counter; seat; rear suspension units; chains and control cables; front fork stanchions, seals and springs; tyres and tubes; and wheel rims, bearings and stainless spokes. This fine example of a motorcycle that many enthusiasts believe Velocette should have built themselves is offered with sundry restoration invoices, dating certificate, current road fund licence and Swansea V5 registration document. It should be noted that there is no electrical system or lights fitted to this motorcycle.
