Just a few years after introducing the R90/6 and R90S, BMW upped the capacity of its range-topping flat-twins to 980cc for the 1977 season in the form of the R100/7 series. The following year a touring version of the R100RS superbike appeared boasting a more generously proportioned fairing, taller windshield and higher handlebars. This was the R100RT, unquestionably the finest touring motorcycle of its day. 'It is so incredibly easy to ride that it doesn't distract you from any of the pleasures of biking - just complements them,' enthused Bike magazine. The 1981 models had Brembo brake calipers, plated cylinder bores, increased sump capacity, a larger air filter and an improved gearbox to handle the engine's 70bhp. 'LMH 642W' was last MoT'd in 2008 and has been dry stored since then. This relatively unmolested, matching numbers machine has recorded a mere 34,168 miles and retains its original paintwork. Waiting only for a new owner to enjoy, it is offered with Swansea V5.
