BMW joined the superbike league in 1973 with a pair of 900cc flat-twins: the R90/6 tourer and the gorgeous new 'R90S' sportster. With its twin front disc brakes, racing-style seat, megaphone-shaped silencers and cockpit fairing, the R90S looked like no BMW before it while the air-brushed 'smoke' custom finish to tank, seat and fairing meant that no two examples were exactly alike. With 67bhp on tap, the R90S was good for a maximum speed of more than 125mph. True, there were a handful of rivals that were faster but none of them could match the BMW's capacity for sustained high-speed cruising. This example was purchased by the late owner (its second) in January 1985 and comes with nine expired MoTs dating back to 2001 recording approximately 12,000 miles covered over the period to April 2011, the reading then being 38,049. Described as in generally very good condition, the machine is offered with sundry bills and Swansea V5C document.
- The machine is offered with several expired MOTs but no sundry bills.
