1958 MV Agusta 83cc Ottantatre
Registration no. OS VH 590 (Isle of Man)
Frame no. 555892
Its name meaning '83', referring to both the engine's capacity in cubic centimetres and the model's dry weight in kilograms, the Ottantatre was introduced in 1958. The OHV engine's maximum output of 3.69bhp was transmitted via a three-speed gearbox, giving a top speed of around 45mph, though the Ottantatre's exceptional frugality up to 200mpg was claimed would have been of greater interest to the majority of potential customers. This beautiful Ottantatre was purchased by the current vendor at Bonhams' Stafford sale in April 2006 (Lot 516). Already fully restored, the machine passed its Isle of Man test in December 2010 (invoice available) and has not been used since then. Kept on display as part of the owner's private collection and sold only because of reluctant downsizing, it is described as in generally good condition and should only require a modest amount of re-commissioning. Offered with old German Fahrzeugbrief and IoM registration document. No reserve.
- The frame number is 83-555892. The engine 83-553943.
