1951 AJS 497cc Model 18CS
Registration no. NKM 606
Frame no. 2827C
Engine no. 51/18S 1001C
This AJS was bought new by John Lawther from Angus Motor Cycles in Sevenoaks, Kent and used until 1959 when it was put into storage having covered 58,000 miles. The pillion seat was added during this time. Fifty years later the machine was sold to a friend, Graham Davie, when Mr Lawther moved to a smaller house. In 2010 Mr Davie passed the still un-restored AJS on to the current vendor, his son-in-law. The vendor likewise has not found time to restore the machine and has decided to sell it. Untouched since 1959 save for cleaning off the cobwebs, 'NKM 606' is complete, original (seat excepted) and has never been restored. We are advised that the engine is free and turns over. Ripe for sympathetic restoration, the machine is offered with the original logbook, instruction manual, DVLC correspondence, Swansea V5C and a selection of tools. The detached rear light/numberplate bracket is included in the sale.
Sold for £3,335 inc. premium
