1963 Velocette 192cc Valiant
Registration no. AFM 672A
Frame no. 254533
Engine no. V200 2534
A sports version of Velocette's LE, the Valiant was introduced in 1957. More conventional than its progenitor, the Valiant boasted a tubular frame, air cooling, overhead valves, twin carburettors and a four-speed, foot-change gearbox but was otherwise mechanically almost identical. Visually, it could not have been more different, but the Valiant was also relatively expensive and sales were disappointing. The current vendor purchased this example from respected enthusiast John Coxon, who had bought the recently restored Velo for his wife having found that 'two-up' on his own Valiant limited its performance. Mrs Coxon had other ideas however, and switched to a Morgan three-wheeler. Believed restored in 2004, including the purchase of two new wheels, 'AFM 672A' has covered only 800 miles since completion and has been ridden regularly on his 1 mile-long private drive by the current vendor. Described as in 'A1' condition, the machine is offered with Swansea V5.
