The highly articulated necklace, composed of eleven graduated baroque cultured pearls, each set within a textured 'oyster shell', alternating with collet-set cabochon sapphires and pairs of old brilliant-cut diamonds, signed Grima, maker's mark on clasp, length 54.0cm

  • This necklace was commissioned from Grima in 1997 and the clasp, by Binder of Zurich, was supplied by the client to be incorporated into the design. A similar necklace was sold on 7 December 2006 at Bonhams, New Bond Street, Fine Jewellery, including works by Andrew Grima, Auction 13919, Lot 67, and is referenced in 'Grima Retrospective', Goldsmiths' Hall, London, May 1991, p.49, item 44.
