Two faux-tortoise shell veneer and wood brush pots
Each of hexagonal section with long gilt inscriptions to the exterior sides: one brush pot bearing a dedication to the Qing dynasty literatus Yan Fu to be kept in the Qingping Xuan ('the Green Duckweed Belvedere') and inscribed with four odes to various ideals of Confucian rectitude on the four remaining sides; the second bearing a dedication to the scholar-official Li Hongzhang to be kept in the Tingyu Lou ('the Hall for Listening to the Rain') with four odes to prunus, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemums respectively on the remaining sides; the base to each brush pot bearing a four-character Guangxu mark in standard script.
