A large cast gilt bronze figure of the Buddha
Nepal, 20th century
Depicting Shakyamuni Buddha displaying the bhumisparsa mudra and attired in intricately chased robes with small cabochons of inlaid turquoise and coral (some losses), the serene face with downcast eyes heightened with color pigment and framed by a coiffure of small blue-hued curls, all raised on a double lotus pedestal reversed by a chakra amid scrolling foliage and sealed with a vishvavajra emblem to the base.
