The first a Hikozo-style rounded-rectangular copper plate with large namako hitsuana and fitted with a hammered copper rim with beaded edges, a square udenukiana at the base of the plate; the second, a Miyamoto Musashi-type tsuba formed as two lobes joined at the top and bottom of the seppadai,repatinated at a later date; the third, an iron sukashi tsuba pierced with a design of a crane, its wingtips touching above its head, eye inlaid in brass

  • The first tsuba in this lot shows characteristics of work by Hirata Hikozo, such as the five sets of chisel marks on either side of the nakagoana and the beaded fukurin.
