A fine and large Satsuma bowl

The deep bowl set on a ring foot and with nearly straight sides and finely painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with a continuous scene of Kyoto's Gion festival featuring numerous ceremonial floats and a model of Mt. Fuji with the animals of the zodiac around the base, the foot painted with a lappet band of flower heads containing panels of various birds and flowers, the rim designed with a geometric band, the interior rim carefully painted with wisteria garlands, signed on the underside in gilt Yabu Meizan
