The red 1964 car presented here is a spectacular original example of the Fiat 1500 Cabriolet styled by the world-renowned Italian automotive design house known as Pininfarina.

Launched in 1960 and produced into 1967, the Fiat 1500 Pininfarina Cabriolet is a two-passenger sports convertible—a type Europeans commonly call a "spider." The car's elegantly clean form is evocative of the Pininfarina-designed 1957 Fiat 1200 Tv, a diminutive convertible that brought "jet-age" modern styling to the period's Fiat 1200 chassis.

The Fiat 1500 Pininfarina Cabriolet interior features individual bucket seats for the driver and passenger. Roll-up door windows in lieu of side curtains give legitimacy to the sporty car's Cabriolet model designation, and help to assure visibility in varied driving conditions.

A 1481cc four-cylinder Fiat engine producing 79 horsepower (SAE gross) at 6,000 rpm powers the Cabriolet. The single-cam engine's 8.8:1 compression ratio and dual-choke Weber carburetor, coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission and 3.9:1 rear axle ratio, provided comparatively brisk acceleration and a top speed in excess of 90 mph.

Purchased new in Barcelona, Spain, the Cabriolet has had limited ownership. In 1992, it was imported into the United States, and has since been well maintained and lightly driven. Throughout its ownership history, the Fiat has been kept closely to its original factory stock condition. The vendor represents the Fiat to be in a "high-end driver-level" state of preservation overall.

The 1500 Pininfarina Cabriolet is here offered with both its rare factory lift-off accessory hardtop and the standard folding soft top. Its factory 14" steel wheels are mounted with 155 SR14 Z X radial tires. The car is furnished complete with tools and spare tire. The odometer mileage is 91,850.

Sporty, fun, and engagingly collectible, the Fiat 1500 Pininfarina Cabriolet will make a great addition to the garage of any Fiat cognoscente.
