c. 1975 Jakarta Taxi Rickshaw
Now for something completely different and a fun addition to any collection. For many years the pedicab or cycle rickshaw called a "becak" in Indonesia was a prime people-mover in the capital city of Jakarta. The three-wheeled taxis were so prolific, in fact, that they became the unofficial symbol of the city. Starting in the 1970s, hoping to lessen the hurly-burly of downtown traffic, the government banned them from the city's main streets. This authentic Jakarta pedicab is in as-used condition with its original paint and lettering.
