Provenance: Private UK Collection of Noorie Parvez, Ahmed Parvez's daughter.
A year after his Commonwealth Institute show, Parvez created this still life, seen as one of his more morbid depictions. In 1962, Parvez created this image during a self-destructive period in London, suffering with depression and a struggle with identity.
His daughter remembers his formative years as melodramatic and colourful having witnessed his destructive violent outbursts, followed by creative flows of energetic genius as she watched him work in his studio.
