A gilt damascene pen case
Tibet, 16th/17th century
Finely damascened with foliate scrolling forms on one side that ends to the top and bottom of the other side with an elephant and horses supporting flaming jewels set with a sparse leafy vines around a central medallion and continuous spandrels. The whole is finely fluted with a double ring at the join.
14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.)
