A double dragon storage chest
Tibet, 17th/18th century
The tray-form lid sits above a painted front panel decorated with a kati rimo style lattice work design around a central cartouche populated by two writhing gilt dragons around a large gilt offering bow containing precious jewels flanked by a pair of deer set amid large peonies and floral forms. The large gilt scrolling arabesques spandrels and cloud-form cartouche border frames the whole composition.
