Segment of Kapton, approximately ½ x ¾ inches. Mounted on a 3 x 8 inch Typed Note Signed by BUZZ ALDRIN.
Kapton was used as a thermal layer on the very outer surface of the Command Module and was exposed to the vacuum of space during the entire flight. BUZZ ALDRIN'S provenance note reads: "Attached is a segment of Kapton film flown on the flight of Apollo 11. It was removed from Command Module Columbia and presented to me by recovery crews after the flight."
