MOST POWERFUL MANNED LIQUID ROCKET STAGE.
"Schematic Propulsion Control System S-IC." The Boeing Company, 1962-63. Large blueprint, 11½ x 33 inches.
A comprehensive blueprint focused on the complexities of the Saturn's first stage propulsion system which provided fuel (RP-1) and oxidizer (liquid oxygen - LOX) to the massive F-1 rocket engines. All five F-1 engines are drawn with their associated control lines from the S-IC stage. There are over 100 circled locator numbers with nearly 50 captions that describe components such as the LOX and fuel tank fill and drain valves, purge valves, pressurization systems, switch relays, and multiple check-out systems. An aft end view looking at all five F-1 engines provides a perspective of the base structure of the S-1C. The locations of the four atmospheric stabilization fins are also seen from this viewing angle. SIGNED by RUSTY SCHWEIKART, RICHARD GORDON, FRED HAISE, EDGAR MITCHELL, and AL WORDEN, and INSCRIBED with their individual Apollo Saturn flight numbers.
