A SCARCE AND IMPORTANT MAP, "the next significant contribution to Louisiana's cartographic development" (Ristow) following on from Lafon's maps of 1805 and 1806. In addition to the state of Louisiana the map includes much of the Mississippi Territory, and a small area of west Florida and eastern Texas.
The Olmstead and Levy issue was published to accompany the second edition of Darby's A Geographical Description of the State of Louisiana, 1816. The first edition was published, in the same year, by John Melish in Philadelphia. Phillips Maps p 372; Ristow p 142.
