The Ref:5070 was launched in 1998 and production was ceased in 2007. It is the second largest wristwatch produced by Patek Philippe, with its diameter comparable to that of the famed Sky Moon Tourbillon. The Ref. 5070 enjoys a cult following amongst Patek Philippe collectors for its contemporary elegant and yet sporty mien. Based on a Nouvelle Lémania ebauche, the movement was reworked by Patek Philippe, resulting in a low beat caliber of 18,000 vibrations per hour and a 60 hour power reserve. The going-train wheels were also re-profiled for a smoother transmission of energy and hence enhanced mechanical precision. This highly desirable reference is highly regarded as Patek Philippe's quintessential modern chronograph.
