Footnotes

    Provenance 來源:
Hu Hanmin (1879-1936), and thence by descent to the current owner.

The seal mark literally translates as, 'Pan Jianan's obsessive collection of authentic masterpieces'.

Pan Jianan was a renowned collector of calligraphy and painting from Guangdong Province during the period of Xianfeng (1851-1861). Beishantang has graciously donated his collection, which is now in the Art Museum of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Amongst this collection is a running script calligraphy by the Yuan dynasty scholar, Zhang Yu (1283-1350), titled 'Duyou longjnng fangyuan anseng zhaoqing yuesong wuxian erkai shixiang'. The seal imprint on the mentioned calligraphy is imprinted by the same seal, which is the current lot.
